AgI-2 is stable but AgF-2 does not Why?
Complex AgI-2
is formed by the interaction of
soft acid Ag+ ion and soft
base I- ions but complex AgF-2 ion is formed by soft acid Ag+
ion and hard base F- ion. Hence AgI-2 ion is
stable and AgF-2 ion is unstable.
